REVIEW PLATFORM CHOICES / CANADIAN REALTORS

RankMyAgent vs Google vs Rate-My-Agent for Canadian realtors

Choose the destination that fits the client and your current review process. Three links in one request usually add work.

Which review platform should you use?

Start with eligibility, the profile you maintain and the job the review needs to do. RankMyAgent’s completed-transaction rules can fit a post-closing process. Google can support discovery through a Business Profile. Rate-My-Agent has its own submission rules. None is a guaranteed source of leads, sales or search rankings.

The Review & Testimonial Collection System includes wording for all three destinations. Those are alternatives, not a reason to ask the same client three times. This comparison is a workflow guide, not an endorsement or paid-platform feature comparison.

Test each link yourself before selecting it. Check that it opens the intended profile rather than a search results page or another agent with a similar name. Keep the selected link in your master template and recheck it when the profile changes.

RankMyAgent: start with the completed transaction

RankMyAgent’s guidelines limit reviews to clients who completed a transaction with their representing real estate professional. They describe verification information and a one-review-per-transaction-per-agent policy. Do not treat an inquiry, an open-house visit or a colleague’s opinion as the same type of experience.

For your working file, record the destination and date asked. Let the client follow the platform’s verification process; do not collect their verification details just to recreate the review in your own records. Check your account’s current features separately. The kit does not include platform subscriptions or paid invitations.

Google: useful visibility, with several factors involved

Google’s local-ranking guidance identifies relevance, distance and prominence as the main factors. Reviews are one part of that picture. Buying a template, adding keywords to replies or collecting a particular number of reviews cannot guarantee a position.

Keep profile information accurate and make the request easy to use. Do not ask clients to insert a town name, repeat marketing phrases or identify specific staff in order to satisfy an SEO script. Their account of the service should remain their own. See Google’s current policy before changing the invitation process.

Rate-My-Agent: let the client submit their own review

Rate-My-Agent’s guidelines prohibit reviews copied from other review platforms and reviews created using the agent’s or an affiliated associate’s hardware or systems. They also address related clients leaving separate reviews of the same transaction. Check those rules before sending an invitation.

Use a direct client-facing link and explain the optional next step. Do not log in for the client, offer a shared office device or move a Google review onto another website yourself. If a link or submission fails, direct the person to the platform’s own support instead of collecting their login.

Choose one primary destination and review it periodically

A simple working decision is to choose one primary platform for a defined workflow, record it and evaluate whether the process remains suitable. You can change future invitations without asking previous clients to repeat themselves. Keep any change consistent with platform rules and the client’s preferences.

Track the number asked, reviews received and service questions needing attention. Do not compare small samples as proof that one platform converts better. A new client mix, timing or a broken link can change the observed rate.

Use the request sequence for timing. Keep independent public reviews separate from permission to quote or film a client for your own marketing; the video permission guide covers that distinction.
